British Airways and Vueling airlines - new codeshares agreement

Airline News

The interline partnership between British Airways and Vueling airlines renewed and moving forward

British Airways customers will have access to new destinations when the airline adds its flight codes to Vueling services.

Starting this autumn, the two companies will continue their collaboration, as Vueling adds flight codes to more than 30 BA flights to Spain and Italy.

Vueling flight codes for BA flights means that customers can book the British airline for trips to and from Gatwick and Heathrow airports.

The two International Airlines Group airlines shared codes before, as Vueling operated flights booked through BA and British Airways added flight codes to more than 180 Vueling flights starting from Rome Fiumicino and Barcelona airports. The interline partnership between British Airways and Vueling moves forward with this new decision. Both companies' flights are operated by International Airlines Group.

Starting October 1st, tickets on routes from Gatwick to Barcelona, Naples and Rome will be available for Vueling clients through British Airways bookings.

In the up-coming weeks, new destinations will be added to the codeshare partnership. Customers will benefit further flights opportunities from Gatwick to other destinations from Spain and Italy, like Malaga, Lanzarote, Genoa and Pisa.

Later this year, Vueling travelers will also be able to access Heathrow airport services to Spanish and Italian destinations, including Ibiza, Palma and Milan.

Head of Alliances and Joint Business from British Airways, Sean Doyle, underlines the benefits that both airlines' customers will gain from the extended company alliance: “British Airways’ relationship with Vueling continues to go from strength to strength and customers of both airlines will benefit from the choice and flexibility that these additional codeshare routes bring on routes between the UK, Spain and Italy.”

This significant move for both International Airlines Group (IAG) airlines develops a closer relationship between British Airways and the Spanish low-cost airline based in Barcelona, with more codeshare routes planned for the near future.
