Pegasus Airlines, often referred to as "Your Digital Airline," has officially launched direct flights linking the capitals of Türkiye and Portugal, enhancing connectivity between Ankara and Lisbon. The inaugural flight from Ankara Esenboğa Airport to Lisbon’s Humberto Delgado Airport took off on April 2, 2024, marking a significant milestone as Pegasus’ first route to Portugal. The service will operate three times a week, with ticket prices starting from 89.99 EUR.

Ceremonial Launch with Distinguished Guests

The launch event at Ankara Esenboğa Airport saw a gathering of notable figures, including Pegasus Airlines' Chief Commercial Officer Onur Dedeköylü and various officials from both Türkiye and Portugal. Attendees included João Macedo, Deputy Head of Mission at the Embassy of Portugal; Celeste Mota, the Economic and Commercial Counsellor; and representatives from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), among others.

Enhancing Cultural and Economic Connections

In his address, Onur Dedeköylü emphasized the significance of the new route for boosting tourism and fostering cultural and economic ties between Türkiye and Portugal. "With our Ankara-Lisbon route, we are not just adding a new destination but also a new country to our network, connecting the capitals of both nations. Lisbon, as one of the oldest cities in the world, attracts visitors for its vibrant culture and excellent hospitality, while Ankara is a thriving modern metropolis rich in history and culture," said Dedeköylü.

João Macedo, Deputy Head of Mission of the Embassy of Portugal, highlighted the potential benefits of the new flights for tourism and trade. He expressed optimism about the lasting human connections that the service will foster: “The Ankara-Lisbon flights are not just between two cities but between two capitals. I’m certain both countries will get to know each other much better thanks to this new connection."
