Two man and woman suspects shot dead by the Police after horrific attack in disability facility in San Bernardino, California
The two suspects who attacked and shot dead 14 people in the center yesterday were identitified as 28-year-old Syed Farooq and 27-year-old Tashfeen Malik. They were carrying handguns and were dressed in tactical combat gears.
The local Police shot them in the SUV they were trying to use to leave the incident's scene. The Police also held in custody a third person who is suspected to be linked to the attack. According to NBC News, he might be Farook's brother.
The mass shooting killed 14 people and injured 17, in the biggest mass shooting incident in America in the last years. The scene of the attack was the Christmas party in the conference room of the Inland Regional Centre in San Bernardino, who provides services for people with disabilities.
The motive of the attack is still unclear, as San Bernardino police chief Jarrod Burguan declares: "There was some type of dispute or something when somebody left the party, but we have no idea if those are the people that came back.”
There also was a bomb alert to the scene that the Police responded to. The SWAT teams surrounded the building, as officials decided to lock-down all local schools and put county buildings and hospitals on high alert for people's safety.
Farooq was a US citizen, working as an environmental health specialist. His actions left his relatives in shock.
"I have no idea why he'd do that, do something like this. I have absolutely no idea, I am in shock myself," his brother-in-law Farhan Khan declared.
The Council on American and Islamic Relations has condemned the mass shooting, stating that it cannot speculate motives yet. The FBI too still doesn't know if the incident is a terrorist one.
"We have a pattern now of mass shooting in this country that has no parallel anywhere else in the world", President Barack Obama declared, as he aims to make changes to make Americans safer.
