Air New Zealand to inaugurate route
The airline will launch the new route starting September 17. The service will operate between John F. Kennedy International Airport and Auckland International Airport. The inauguration of the latest Air New Zealand service was delayed with almost 3 years due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Greg Foran, the company’s CEO, declared with the occasion:
"The U.S. has always been a key market for us, and this new route cements our commitment to growing opportunities for tourism between the two countries.
“In the six years leading up to COVID, the U.S. visitor numbers to New Zealand doubled so we expect our much-awaited non-stop service to be incredibly strong year-round."
The non-stop flights will be operated three times a week.
More Air New Zealand flights are set to become operational this year, after the company revealed plans of resuming service from San Francisco International Airport, George Bush Intercontinental Airport, Daniel K. Inouye International Airport and O'Hare International Airport. Los Angeles International Airport is already on the list of hubs transited by the ANZ flights.
The new route addition from New York to Auckland comes as New Zealand has recently announced its plans to reopen borders to vaccinated foreign tourists, after almost 2 years of complete travel lock due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
