In a recent announcement, United Airlines and Eve Air Mobility have revealed their target to introduce air transportation to the San Francisco Bay Area by 2026.
The companies plan to utilize Eve's battery-powered vertical take-off and landing aircraft in order to begin this new project.
Eve has been revealed as the first air taxi to be used by United in the Bay Area, making it the third market to be announced for this service.
In November, the carrier in collaboration with Archer Aviation had declared that it would launch its initial route connecting New York's Manhattan heliport to Newark Liberty International Airport.
United made a $15 million investment in Eve Air Mobility in September 2022. As part of the agreement, 200 four-seat electric jets were subject to the conditional acquisition.
In a recent development, it has been reported that United Airlines has invested in Archer Aviation by making a deposit of $10 million for the purchase of 100 of the company's electric aircraft. This investment comes a month after United's previous investment in the same company.
The service for San Francisco is scheduled to take off in 2025. The second route for United's upcoming air taxi service, Archer, was announced in March, and it will begin service in Chicago in 2025.
