American Airlines Adds Five New Routes to Europe for Summer 2025

Airlines & Airports

American Airlines is expanding its trans-Atlantic services for summer 2025, adding five new routes to Europe. The airline will resume flights to Edinburgh, Scotland (EDI) for the first time since 2019 and introduce new flights to Athens (ATH), Madrid (MAD), Milan (MXP), and Rome (FCO). This expansion strengthens American's global network, providing travelers with more options to visit Europe’s most popular destinations.

New Route Highlights

  • Edinburgh, Scotland (EDI): Daily service from Philadelphia (PHL) starting May 23, 2025.
  • Athens, Greece (ATH): Daily flights from Charlotte (CLT) beginning June 5, 2025.
  • Madrid, Spain (MAD): New daily service from Chicago (ORD) launching March 30, 2025.
  • Milan, Italy (MXP): Daily flights from Philadelphia (PHL) starting May 23, 2025.
  • Rome, Italy (FCO): Daily service from Miami (MIA) beginning July 5, 2025.

These routes provide U.S. travelers with more seamless connections to Europe’s cultural and economic hubs. Tickets will be available for purchase starting September 9, 2024, on aa.com and the American Airlines mobile app.

Expanding Connectivity Across Europe

American Airlines will offer more than 70 daily departures to over 20 trans-Atlantic destinations in the summer of 2025. Highlights include the return of flights to Copenhagen (CPH), Naples (NAP), and Nice (NCE), as well as extended seasonal service from Miami (MIA) to Paris (CDG), providing more time for travelers to explore Europe’s top destinations.

More Flights to Asia

In addition to expanding its European routes, American is increasing capacity to Asia next summer. Flights from Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW) and Los Angeles (LAX) to Tokyo will operate on larger aircraft, offering more premium seats. Routes to Shanghai (PVG) and Tokyo Narita (NRT) will also see expanded service, with codeshare agreements providing access to more destinations across Japan and East Asia.
