Amsterdam Airport Enables Pre-Booking Time Slots for Non-Schengen Flight Security Checks

Pre-booking time slots for security check is now available to passengers departing Schiphol Airport in Amsterdam from Schengen or non-Schengen countries.
SchengenVisaInfo.com reported that the new changes were made after the airport authorities expanded the service to non-Schengen flights following the success of the launch earlier this year.
Booking a specific time to pass through the security check allows for a more organized and stress-free trip.
All passengers can now plan ahead and not have to wait in line for the lengthy process.
The Schiphol Airport has confirmed that this service is free of charge between three days up to 90 minutes prior to departure for non Schengen flights, or for flights within Schengen Area.
According to a report by Mayor.EU, the availability of time slots is dependent on the number of seats on each flight.
To book, you can either use the Schiphol mobile app or the Schiphol website.
The system suggests booking slots that are compatible with the flight departure times and crowds.
The airport states that the time slot will be valid for 15 mins, and travellers are required to show up at the airport with their QR code. Arriving early will result in the time slot not being available and passengers will need to wait. Arriving late will mean they miss out on the opportunity to reserve a time slot and have to wait in the regular queue for those without one.
There are exceptions. The airport will already have separate security controls for those who need assistance or are in a priority status.
The airport announced in April of this year that passengers could reserve a slot to pass through security at the time they choose by booking it before departure.
Then, it was made clear that all travelers would have the option to reserve slots at no cost. Schiphol was the fourth major airport in Europe that offered this option after introducing these changes.
The Schiphol airport announced last month that it is working with companies that handle baggage to test new technology that will revolutionize the baggage handling process.
