Booking.com Unveils New U.S. Credit Card - What Partner Will Join Forces?

Hotels & Resorts

Booking.com has yet to reveal any formal arrangement regarding the launch of a co-branded credit card in the United States.

However, a LinkedIn post from a relatively new employee and the posting of a job vacancy for a "manager, co-branded credit card growth & strategy" have fueled conjecture.

In the LinkedIn post, Jonathan Rossman, currently holding the title of "co-brand credit card" at Booking.com, announced that he is in the process of assembling a team and invited individuals to connect if they have an "interest in contributing to the creation and expansion of an exceptional and distinctive cobrand offering" at Booking.com.

Rossman, whose LinkedIn profile indicates he has been with Booking.com for nine months, has previously worked at JPMorgan Chase, American Express, and British Airways.

He included a link to a Booking.com job listing for the role of manager, co-branded credit card growth and strategy, described by the company as "a newly established position aimed at launching and overseeing Booking.com's upcoming co-branded credit card in the US, a market of utmost importance for the company."

In recent years, Booking.com has been striving to fortify its presence in the United States. However, to launch a co-branded credit card, Booking.com will require a partner, and the identity of this partner remains uncertain.

One conceivable option could be Citi. Last month, Booking.com initiated a significant collaboration with Citi, wherein the Amsterdam-based online travel agency and its sister brand, Rocket Travel, commenced powering a newly introduced Citi travel platform for cardholders, as reported by CNBC. This platform offers booking options for flights, accommodations, rental cars, tours, and activities.
