c2c Train Services Disrupted Due to Strike Action

Car Rental & Rail

ASLEF announces strike dates affecting c2c routes in early April, including a full cessation of services on April 8. Passengers are advised to check for updates and plan accordingly.

Rail passengers on the c2c network are bracing for disruptions as the Associated Society of Locomotive Engineers and Firemen (ASLEF) announces a series of industrial actions set to impact services in early April. The planned actions include a full strike on Monday, 8 April, and additional days of reduced service due to action short of a strike.

Key Dates and Impacts:

  • April 4-6 and 8-9: Passengers should expect reduced services across all lines. The first and last trains are anticipated to run as scheduled, except on the strike day.
  • April 7-8: Engineering works on the Basildon and Ockendon lines will further impact services.
  • April 8: A complete halt of c2c services is expected due to the strike, with TfL lines also affected.
  • April 10: Early morning services may be disrupted; travelers are advised to verify their journeys ahead of time.

Rob Mullen, c2c Managing Director, expressed disappointment over the failure to reach an agreement with ASLEF and emphasized the significant impact on customers and staff. He remains hopeful for productive discussions with the unions.

The Rail Delivery Group highlighted the ongoing efforts to mitigate the effects of the strike, including the proposal to increase average driver salaries, which remains on the negotiation table.

Passenger Advisories:

  • Travel Checks: Customers are urged to consult www.nationalrail.co.uk for the latest travel information.
  • Ticket Flexibility: Affected travelers may benefit from cross-industry ticket acceptance, temporary lifting of ticket restrictions, and the provision for fee-free refunds or changes for certain tickets.
  • Compensation: Eligible passengers, including season and Flexi Season Ticket holders, may claim 100% compensation for strike-impacted journeys through the Delay Repay scheme.

c2c advises passengers to consider alternative routes or operators and to contact their original ticket retailer for more detailed information. For journeys within London on strike days, magstripe National Rail ticket holders may use TfL services on reasonable routes.

The industrial action is poised to cause significant disruption across the c2c network, and customers are encouraged to plan their travel carefully during this period, keeping abreast of the latest updates and advisories.
