Canada To Issue Upgraded Passports

News

Canada has introduced a brand new passport design with cutting-edge safety options.

A new, more secure Canadian passport design has been presented recently. The ink used to print passport information has been replaced with laser engraving. Canadian people, landscapes, and animals are featured on these pages that are only visible under UV light. The cover art has also been updated. A metallic maple leaf outline has been added to the formerly all-gold coat of arms. Navy blue is still the dominant hue of the document.

Several additional safeguards have been included into the new Canadian passport layout to protect the privacy of the travellers. A deer and a snowfall are shown in colour changing ink on the front inside cover. The other side of the passport has a visible chip and antenna that may be used to verify the passport's authenticity and protect sensitive data.

Over the primary picture on this page is a kinegram, a diffractive optically changeable image that seems to move as the viewer's perspective changes. Depending on your perspective, the birth date will either be visible or invisible. Additional security measures include a temperature-sensitive ink and see-through glass combination that displays a secondary photo of the passport's owner. The polycarbonate material used to make this page is both sturdy and impervious to moisture. Because of these changes, the new document is more long-lasting and secure against forgeries.

Sean Fraser, Canada's Minister of Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship, declared:

"The new Canadian passport is more than a travel document; it is a representation of our national identity and values. It is a reminder of the beauty and diversity of Canada, and it reflects the country's commitment to welcoming people from all around the world.”

The Canadian passport also includes a reference to the British monarchy as a gesture to the country's Commonwealth membership.

According to the Passport Index, the Canadian passport is among the most influential in the world. Over 170 countries now provide visa-free or visa-on-arrival travel to Canadian citizens.

The rollout of the new passport will begin before the end of the summer. Canadian citizens will soon be able to change their passports online, complete with the ability to pay costs and submit a picture.

However, Canadian officials have informed citizens that their passports, both old and new, are equally safe and secure, so there's no need to rush out and renew them.
