easyJet marks its 20th anniversary at Berlin-Brandenburg, highlighting two decades of significant contributions to the region's connectivity and growth.
easyJet, the renowned low-cost airline known for its distinctive orange-and-white livery, is celebrating a significant milestone—20 years of operations in the Berlin-Brandenburg region. Since the first flight from Liverpool landed at Berlin-Schönefeld Airport on April 28, 2004, easyJet has become an integral part of the capital region's aviation landscape.
The airline expanded its operations to Berlin-Tegel in 2018 and played a pivotal role in the transition to the new Berlin Brandenburg Airport (BER). easyJet was among the first to land at BER's Terminal 1 on October 31, 2020, and had the distinction of being the first airline to take off from the new terminal the following day. The opening of BER was a key milestone in the longstanding partnership between the airport company and easyJet, underscoring the airline's commitment to the region.
Over the past two decades, easyJet has significantly enhanced the connectivity of the Berlin-Brandenburg area, supporting both tourism and business. The airline has made substantial investments in the region, including the establishment of an on-site hangar at BER, demonstrating its long-term commitment to serving the local community and travelers.
For the summer schedule of 2024, easyJet will operate flights to over 50 destinations from BER. This expansion includes five new destinations: Antalya, Izmir, Toulouse, Birmingham, and Salerno. The airline continues to cater to a diverse group of travelers, including business professionals, families, and those seeking leisurely city breaks. Among the most popular destinations are London, Milan, Amsterdam, Paris, and Basel, highlighting easyJet's role in connecting Berlin-Brandenburg to major cities across Europe.
As easyJet celebrates this 20th anniversary, it reflects on its journey of growth and dedication to enhancing air travel in Berlin-Brandenburg, ensuring that the region remains a vibrant hub for both business and leisure travelers.
