First electric airline to launch in the Caribbean
Cape Line is the name of the first electric airline that will operate in the Caribbean region, across destinations like destinations Saint Thomas, Tortola, Virgin Gorda, Saint Croix, Culebra and Vieques.
Following the decision of going full-electric, the company’s goal is to “set up an unparalleled regional electric fleet, taking a pioneering step into the sustainable era of aviation.”
The project is a partnership between Cape Air and Eviation.
Jessica Pruss, VP of Sales at Eviation, explained:
“Truly sustainable aviation not only reduces the impact of air travel on the environment but also makes business sense.
“We are proud to support Cape Air, a recognized leader in regional air travel, to chart a new path in delivering innovative solutions that benefit airline operators, passengers, communities and society.”
Linda Markham, President and CEO at Cape Air, added:
“Cape Air remains committed to sustainability, growth, and innovation, and our partnership with Eviation allows for these commitments to become a reality.
“Our customers will be at the forefront of aviation history and our communities will benefit from emission-free travel.”
Eviation Alice is the first fully electric aircraft ever created, reaching an autonomy of 440 nautical miles and a maximum speed of 250 knots.
As more and more ventures in the Caribbean promote innovation and social responsibility, with its avant-gardist project Cape Air will also focus on opening the path to a more sustainable future.
“Together with Eviation, we are creating the next generation of air travel, in which electric flight will be the industry standard”, concluded Cape Air Board Chairman, Dan Wolf.
