Airlines & Airports

Hainan Airlines has officially launched its direct flight route between Vienna Airport and Chengdu, the provincial capital of Sichuan, China. This new service marks the first-ever direct connection between Vienna and Sichuan, further enhancing flight options between Austria and China.

New Connection Expands Vienna’s Route Network to China

Effective immediately, Hainan Airlines will operate three weekly flights on the Chengdu-Vienna route throughout the year. The addition of this route strengthens the ties between Vienna and China, complementing existing flights to Shenzhen, and showcasing Vienna Airport’s growing role as a vital bridge between Europe and Asia.

Julian Jäger, Joint CEO and COO of Vienna Airport, expressed the significance of the new flight, saying, “This is an important milestone for Vienna Airport. Thanks to the new direct flight connection, we are able to link Chengdu and its dynamic economic region with Vienna. This strengthens our partnership with Hainan Airlines and highlights the airport’s pivotal role in connecting Europe and Asia.”
