Hainan Airlines Resumes Direct Flights Between Beijing and Oslo
Starting March 22, 2025, Hainan Airlines (HU) will recommence its direct flights between Beijing Capital International Airport (PEK) and Oslo Airport (OSL). This is a significant step forward for Norwegian tourism, the seafood industry, and strengthening connections between Norway and China.
Seasonal Service to Boost Tourism and Exports
The route will operate as a seasonal service, with flights available until October 25, 2025. Three weekly departures will be scheduled on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, using an Airbus A330-300 aircraft. The aircraft, with a total of 292 seats (32 in business class), will cater to both passenger travel and cargo demand, making it an essential link between the two countries.
Fastest Route Between Norway and China
This direct flight is set to be the fastest route between Norway and China, reducing travel time and enhancing access to one of Norway’s most significant international markets.
Ulrik Elbirk, Director of Route Development at Avinor, commented:
“This route will provide a much-needed connection to China, bolstering Norwegian tourism, business, and seafood exports. The increasing trend of Chinese tourism to Norway is positive, and this direct flight will further ease Chinese tourists’ access to Norway’s scenic destinations.”

A Key Link for Norway’s Seafood Industry
Besides benefiting tourism, the route plays a crucial role in Norway’s seafood industry, where cargo capacity is an essential part of the service. By resuming the flights, Norway expects to further strengthen its economic and cultural cooperation with China.
Hainan Airlines first operated this route in 2019, but it was suspended due to the pandemic. With the restored service, both tourism and cargo sectors are anticipated to benefit significantly, paving the way for further collaboration between the two countries.
