Iberia Launches Madrid to Monterrey Flights Three Times Weekly
Iberia has launched direct flights between Madrid and Monterrey, Mexico, operating three times weekly on Tuesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, using an Airbus A330-200 configured with Business and Economy cabins for 288 passengers.
The inauguration was marked by a ribbon-cutting ceremony at Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport, attended by Iberia's Chief Commercial Officer María Jesús López Solás and Global Sales Director Víctor Moneo. Passengers on the inaugural flights received a special onboard welcome: margaritas in Business Class and traditional Mexican sweets throughout the cabin, along with commemorative gifts for all travelers.
The full flight schedule is as follows: Madrid departs at 13:10, arriving Monterrey at 17:05; return flights depart Monterrey at 18:35, arriving Madrid at 13:05 the following day.
Monterrey becomes Iberia's second Mexican destination alongside Mexico City. Together, the two routes will offer more than 820,000 seats in 2026, an increase of around 8 percent compared to the previous year, with Mexico now representing approximately 14 percent of Iberia's total Latin American capacity.
Through its Madrid hub, the new route connects Monterrey to more than 100 destinations across Spain, Europe, Africa, and Asia. Iberia has also reached an agreement with Mexican carrier Viva, enabling onward connections from Monterrey to 32 domestic destinations across Mexico. Additionally, travelers can take advantage of Iberia's Stopover Hola Madrid programme, which allows Monterrey passengers to break their journey in Madrid for up to nine nights at no additional airfare cost.
"With the launch of the Madrid–Monterrey route, we are adding a new destination in Mexico, which is already Iberia's largest market in Latin America by seat capacity," said María Jesús López Solás.
