The event, attended by international aviation leaders, focused on developing future training methodologies for the aviation industry.
iGA Istanbul Airport is making strides towards becoming an international hub for aviation training by hosting key figures from the global aviation community in Istanbul. The airport organized the "Global Education Symposium" in partnership with the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), marking a significant step towards achieving its goal of becoming a worldwide center for aviation education.
The symposium, which convened at the Mandarin Oriental Istanbul on February 26-27, brought together top executives from various aviation institutions and airports globally. The event, co-hosted with ICAO, included the "Excellence Through Innovation Workshop," focusing on the evolution of training methodologies essential for the future of aviation.
The symposium featured notable speakers including Jorge Vargas, ICAO's Director of Capacity Development and Implementation, and Dr. Laura Camastra, ICAO's Global Aviation Training Officer. iGA Istanbul Airport's Acting CEO, Selahattin Bilgen, emphasized the airport's commitment to addressing the aviation industry's need for skilled and qualified human resources. He highlighted the airport's achievements in securing training accreditation from prestigious organizations such as ACI, IATA, ICAO, TSA, and EUROCAE since 2022.
Bilgen expressed pride in hosting the symposium, underscoring the importance of education in achieving aviation ecosystem goals. He detailed the airport's efforts in advancing training development processes, participation in ICAO's Global Training Steering Committee, and the assignment of employees to Montreal to support ICAO's objectives. Bilgen's vision for iGA Istanbul Airport is to become a benchmark for aviation education worldwide, showcasing the airport's dedication to fostering a well-trained aviation workforce for the future.
