Jetblue To Extend Its Transatlantic Operations

Airlines & Airports

As part of the airline's efforts to grow its presence on both sides of the Atlantic, JBA will launch service from the US to the cities of Dublin and Edinburgh.

In addition, the airline said that it intends to start operations in Paris commencing in March 2024.

As part of the airline's efforts to grow its presence on both sides of the Atlantic, JetBlue Airways intends to launch service from the United States to the cities of Dublin and Edinburgh. Flights to the newly available locations already went on sale.

Wednesday was the first day that tickets could be purchased for the newly presented travel options.

Beginning on March 13, 2024, the airline will begin offering daily seasonal service to Dublin departing from both its main airport, John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York, as well as Boston Logan International Airport in Boston. Beginning on May 22, 2024, JFK Airport in New York City will begin offering direct flights to Edinburgh. JetBlue has said that all three routes will be serviced until September 30, 2024.

The Chief Executive Officer of the company, Robin Hayes, was quoted as saying in a press release that the company's summer seasonal service to Dublin and Edinburgh will introduce a new level of excellence as well as economical rates to the destinations that have been controlled by high-fare legacy airlines for decades.

JetBlue has long intended to provide service to Europe using some of its longer-range aircraft. This is part of a strategy to cut into the demand that is primarily run by bigger rivals like American Airlines, Delta, and United, as well as its European partners.

Executives from JetBlue have said that they aim to win over customers, and one way they want to do this is by introducing their redesigned "Mint" business-class cabins. In 2021, the company launched its trans-Atlantic service by beginning service to London from New York City.

In addition, JetBlue representatives declared that beginning on April 3, 2024, the airline would begin providing service connecting the two terminals at Boston Logan International Airport and Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport. Beginning on June 20, 2024, the airline will also start operating a second daily trip to Paris departing from New York's JFK airport.

This past summer was the first time that the airline offered service to Paris. It was the carrier's second stop in Europe at the time, making it the second European destination overall.
