Marriott International to Launch a JW Marriott Resort in Crete, Greece, with Vasilakis SA

Marriott International, in partnership with Vasilakis SA, has announced plans to introduce the JW Marriott brand to Greece. The JW Marriott Crete Resort & Spa, expected to open its doors in 2025, will occupy 100 acres of picturesque coastline, offering a luxury retreat for those in pursuit of both exceptional service and a holistic wellness experience.

This venture will be managed in collaboration with SWOT Hospitality, a firm renowned for its management of luxury hotels throughout Greece. Together, they aim to meet the growing demand for luxury accommodations in the region.

Jerome Briet, Marriott International's Chief Development Officer for Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, expressed enthusiasm for the project, highlighting Greece's appeal to the global traveler and the eagerness to deliver JW Marriott's signature hospitality to Crete.

Designed by the distinguished Block722 architects, the resort promises to marry contemporary sophistication with the island's rich cultural heritage. Plans include 160 luxury guestrooms, all suites, and villas coming with a private pool or jacuzzi, along with a range of wellness-focused amenities like a JW Garden and five dining options, including a traditional Cretan eatery and a beachside venue.

Antonios Vasilakis, the owner of Vasilakis SA, emphasized the alignment of JW Marriott's values with their vision, expecting the resort to redefine luxury hospitality in Greece.

Located near Chania, by the serene Marathi Beach, the JW Marriott Crete Resort & Spa is perfectly positioned for guests to explore the natural and historical wonders of Crete, from beautiful beaches to medieval castles. Its proximity to Chania Airport and a short drive from Heraklion International Airport adds to its appeal as a premier destination for luxury travel.

Stelios Koutsivitis, President of SWOT Hospitality, shared his excitement about the collaboration, confident in the project's potential to elevate Greece's status as a prime location for luxury and international travelers.

This development not only marks JW Marriott's entry into the Greek market but also sets a new benchmark for luxury hospitality in the Mediterranean, promising an unparalleled guest experience.
