Marriott International to Open Five New Hotels in Indonesia by 2030

Marriott International and PT. Pakuwon Jati Tbk. have signed an agreement to open five new properties in Indonesia by 2030. The expansion will add over 1,300 rooms across key cities like Jakarta, Surabaya, and Batam.

A Strategic Partnership for Growth

The agreement was signed by Rajeev Menon, President of Asia Pacific excluding China for Marriott International, and Eiffel Tedja, Director of PT. Pakuwon Jati Tbk. Present at the signing ceremony were David Marriott, Chairman of Marriott International, and Alexander Tedja, Chairman of Pakuwon Group. This collaboration will expand Marriott’s footprint in Indonesia, further enhancing its presence in the country’s major cities.

Five New Hotels Across Indonesia

The properties to be developed under this agreement include:

  • Jakarta Marriott Hotel Kota Kasablanka – Expected to open in December 2029, featuring 320 rooms.
  • Aloft Surabaya, Pakuwon Indah – Scheduled for a December 2029 opening.
  • Courtyard by Marriott Batam – Opening in December 2029.
  • The Jakarta EDITION – Slated for a December 2030 launch.
  • The Westin Batam – Set to open in December 2030.

Expanding Marriott's Indonesian Footprint

With 77 operational properties in Indonesia, Marriott continues its robust growth in response to increasing demand for both leisure and business travel. Rajeev Menon expressed the company’s commitment to expanding into key Indonesian destinations, emphasizing the strategic importance of cities outside traditional gateways.

“Our strategic plans to expand our footprint in key destinations, including outside gateway cities, show our commitment to being where our guests want us,” Menon said.

Strengthening Long-Standing Relationships

The collaboration with PT. Pakuwon Jati Tbk. underscores the strong and long-standing relationship between the two companies. Ramesh Jackson, Area Vice President for Indonesia & Malaysia at Marriott International, highlighted the significance of the deal for growth in Indonesia.

"We are thrilled to expand our portfolio in Indonesia with PT. Pakuwon Jati Tbk., which will allow us to drive growth in various regional cities," Jackson said.

Eiffel Tedja, Director of PT. Pakuwon Jati Tbk., shared the company’s vision for enhancing guest experiences through innovative services and amenities.

Marriott’s Expanding Portfolio

Currently, Marriott International manages 1,925 rooms across seven hotels and one golf club for PT Pakuwon Jati Tbk. With three more properties set to open in 2025, and five additional hotels now in the pipeline, Marriott is on track to oversee 18 properties and 4,500 rooms in Indonesia by 2030.

Slated for a December 2029 opening, this new Marriott Hotel will offer 320 elegant rooms and suites, an all-day dining restaurant, a pool bar, and a patisserie.
