New Hard Rock Hotel launches in Times Square

News

The new hotel is located at 159 W. 48th St., between the Theatre District and Radio City Music Hall, and is the brand’s first hotel in the city of New York.

“We looked at dozens of sites around the city and this really is the perfect fit. There is the business side of Midtown on one side and Times Square on the other. This is extremely exciting for us”, commented the chairman of Hard Rock International and CEO of Seminole Gaming, Jim Allen.

Hard Rock Hotel New York will also feature a RT60 bar and lounge on the 34th floor and a NYY Steak location.

“Because we were designing a brand-new building, we had the ability to create an amazing indoor-outdoor space with a canopy. We spent a lot of money on creating the DJ booth and the sound system to create an ultra lounge venue”, Jim Allen continued.

In addition to the impressive 36 floors, the massive building also goes 80 feet underground.

“There’s close to 40 feet ceiling height of usable space. It has a balcony; the whole thing is incredible. It has an underground, speak-easy type of vibe”, added Allen.

Besides cosy and luxurious guest rooms and suites, the hotel houses big terraces, spacious event halls and, of course, the Hard Rock special music memorabilia signature, with unique items of the world’s largest private collection proudly displayed.

“The Hard Rock of the ’80s and ’90s was more simplistic,” said Allen. “They basically applied memorabilia to the walls. Now it is more a museum-quality presentation, with history and the story behind each piece and the artist.”

“With New York’s important place in musical history, we wanted to create something special. We always look at geographical location and the artists who worked in the area, and then layer in global acts.”

New Yorkers are expected to enjoy the 446 warm rooms of the hotel, as well as the Theatre District Venue’s future events. Rooms can be booked for prices starting $475 per night.

The Hard Rock was established in London in the 1980s, as the brand currently owns 253 properties worldwide.
