New Radisson RED hotel opens in Liverpool

News

This property, a Grade II-listed property, has been thoughtfully renovated and is located in Liverpool. It was originally opened in 1800 as one of the original British railway hotels.

Radisson RED Liverpool combines history, heritage, and eclectic design when it arrives in this vibrant city. Stoke, a modern barbecue and robata-grill restaurant, makes the hotel a popular culinary destination. The restaurant serves classic dishes with a grilled twist, and boasts unbeatable views of St George's Hall's acclaimed concert venue.

Radisson RED Liverpool's landmark building, formerly known as Northern Western Hall, dates back to 1871. It is situated next to the Liverpool Lime Street station and is connected with it. Alfred Waterhouse, a local architect who also designed London's Natural History Museum (Manchester Town Hall) and Manchester Town Hall (London), originally designed the hotel as one of the British Transport Hotels. It provided direct links to the nearby railway station. The building was mostly unused after the 1930s. It was only used for student accommodation until the 1990s.

A grand sandstone staircase and a stained glass window from the nineteenth century were restored by extensive renovations. The six-meter high window above the staircase was reconstructed by stained glass specialists. This will fill the atrium with natural sunlight and provide a focal point for guests entering the main entrance. The grand staircase was renovated for 792 hours. World-renowned polishers completed the handrail of 94 meters. To enhance the grandeur of the hotel, the turrets (and spires) have been restored.

Radisson RED's bold, bold and cutting-edge design is evident in the hotel's 10-storey height. The hotel features a 1960s-style sidecar and scooter, as well as a submarine sculpture. This is in tribute to the city's famed music scene and perhaps its most famous export, The Beatles.

Indigo Art has created bespoke art pieces for guest rooms. These pieces pay homage to Liverpool's most iconic buildings and faces.
Other artworks include illustrations of local landmarks, hand-drawn illustrations in red, and black and white photos such as the image of the Liver Bird which is the city's symbol and appears on its coats of arms. It sits atop The Royal Liver Building.

Famous music and entertainment venues like the Empire Theatre, St George's Hall, and the Liverpool ONE retail and leisure destination are all within walking distance. Radisson RED Liverpool is the perfect base to explore the city.

The hotel's ground floor hosts Stoke, a destination restaurant. It offers a menu that focuses on 'farm to fork' cuisine, which works with local suppliers. Open kitchen and robata grill are also available at the restaurant.

You can exercise at the gym or rent the space to host a meeting, celebration, or event. Radisson RED Liverpool offers five meeting rooms for 50 guests on the lower floor. There is also a private dining room that can seat up to 8 and offers views of St George's Hall.

Tom Flanagan Karttunen is the Area Senior Vice President, Northern & Western Europe, Radisson Hotel Group. He says, "The Radisson RED brand, Liverpool, and the city of Liverpool, are the perfect match. Both represent fun and vibrancy, with strong connections to music, art and design. This building has seen a remarkable transformation. This building is the first thing that tourists to the city see upon their arrival. We have worked hard to make it an unforgettable experience for both tourists and locals.

Gary Waring, general manager at Radisson RED Liverpool said that the opening of Radisson RED Liverpool as well as the renovation of the building had been eagerly awaited by the city and they are thrilled to finally unveil the final look. Liverpool is a unique city and we have worked hard to make it a part of the hotel's design. We paid tribute to local icons while also paying homage to the building's rich history. It was also important to bring an exciting food-and-drink venue to the city. We look forward to welcoming guests, and making the city a must-visit place.

Radisson RED has a presence in the UK, with the Radisson RED Glasgow (multi-award winning) and Radisson RED London Heathrow (all-new Radisson RED).
