New Taxi Services Contracted at Kuopio Airport Starting February 2025

Finavia has signed a contract with Kuljettajasi Oy to provide taxi services at Kuopio Airport, effective from 1 February 2025. This new partnership will operate alongside Kuopion Taksiykköset, which will continue its services at the airport without any changes.

Ensuring Smooth Taxi Services

Raija Niskanen, Finavia's Airport Manager for Kuopio Airport, emphasized the importance of reliable taxi services at regional airports, stating, “It is important to us that our regional airports have good and smooth taxi services. Many of our airports have tendered taxi lanes, with which we aim to ensure that getting to and from the airport is smooth.”

Designated Taxi Lanes

At Kuopio Airport, separate lanes are reserved for the taxis of contracted companies, located directly in front of the terminal’s main entrance. Non-contracted taxi companies will still have access to a designated area near the airport, and there is also a waiting area for pre-booked taxis.

Flexibility for Passengers

The tendering process does not restrict other taxi companies from picking up and dropping off passengers at the airport, allowing travelers to choose their preferred taxi service freely.

Selection Criteria for Contracted Companies

The tendering process for taxi lane 2 at Kuopio Airport took place in autumn 2024, with selection criteria focusing on the ability to provide a high level of service and ensuring that taxis are available according to the schedules of scheduled flights. Notably, Finavia did not include customer pricing in the tendering process; taxi companies will set their own rates. The contract is valid for one year, with an option for a one-year extension.
