Norwegian Launches New Direct Routes from Helsinki to Malta and Bucharest
Norwegian is set to launch two exciting new direct flight routes from Helsinki Airport to Malta and Bucharest for the summer season of 2025. These destinations are entirely new for the airline, marking its first-ever flights to both Malta and Romania's capital, Bucharest. The new routes will offer travelers more options for exploring Southern Europe.
Flight Details and Schedules
Flights to Malta will commence on June 4, 2025, and will run until early August. The service to Bucharest will begin on June 3, 2025, and operate until October 24, 2025. The Helsinki-Malta route will be available once a week, while the Helsinki-Bucharest flights will operate twice a week, providing flexible travel options for passengers.
A Welcome Addition to Helsinki Airport’s Route Network
Petri Vuori, Senior Vice President of Finavia, which manages Helsinki Airport, commented on the new routes: "Malta and Bucharest are a great addition to Helsinki Airport’s route connections. The flights start just at the beginning of the summer holiday season, so the selection of holiday destinations for Finns to popular Southern Europe expands with two interesting and long-awaited destinations."
Norwegian’s Expanding Reach
With the addition of Malta and Bucharest, Norwegian will operate flights to 25 destinations in Europe, North Africa, and the Middle East from Finland in summer 2025. These new routes further cement the airline’s position as a key player in offering affordable travel options to a variety of European and Mediterranean destinations.
Previous Helsinki Routes to Malta and Bucharest
Before Norwegian’s new routes, the last direct service from Helsinki to Malta was in 2019, and flights to Bucharest were last operated in 2022. The new services provide a welcome revival of these routes, enhancing Helsinki Airport’s connectivity to Southern Europe.
