The Nassau Cruise Port has announced that the first phase, worth $300 million, will open on the 26th of May. This marks the end of a four-year renovation.
Travel Weekly reports that the new berth at Nassau Cruise Port allows for six ships to arrive per day, increasing total capacity to between 20,000 and 30,000 passengers.
CruiseHive announced in April that the port of the Bahamas would be able to accommodate multiple Oasis class and Icon cruise ships simultaneously. Officials believe that the number of visitors will increase dramatically to 4.5 millions in 2024, as a result of 1,300 calls by cruise ships.
The facility offers passengers a variety of unique amenities including "modern terminal building, a Junkanoo Museum showcasing Bahamian cultural heritage and a theater for live performances and events."
Nassau Cruise Port also features a variety of international and local shops and restaurants.
