Phuket Emerges as Global Medical Wellness Hub with Cutting-Edge Facility

Spa & Health

Minor Hotels has announced the launch of Layan Life by Anantara, a revolutionary medical wellness concept located within the Anantara Layan Phuket Resort. Set to open in Q3 this year, this state-of-the-art facility aims to elevate Phuket’s status as an international destination for medical wellness.

A Blend of Modern and Traditional Healing

The new facility spans 1,767 square meters and combines modern medical technologies with traditional 'Rajasamnak' Thai healing practices. Drawing on over two decades of wellness expertise from Anantara Hotels & Resorts, Layan Life by Anantara integrates the core elements of Thai Traditional Medicine (TTM)—earth, water, wind, and fire—into its wellness programs.

Sandie Johannessen, Group Director of Spa and Wellness – Asia at Minor Hotels, emphasized the unique approach:

“Layan Life represents a significant milestone in our commitment to wellness. With Layan Life by Anantara, we are redefining wellness retreats by combining cutting-edge technologies with the timeless wisdom of ancient Thai traditions in one of the most beautiful settings in the world.”

Comprehensive Wellness Programs

Layan Life offers bespoke wellness programs ranging from three to ten days, designed by specialist medical doctors and Thai medicinal experts. These programs incorporate advanced medical assessments, tailored nutrition, and guided fitness, addressing goals such as weight management, stress relief, fitness, and anti-aging.

Biophilic Design and State-of-the-Art Facilities

The facility's design is inspired by biophilic principles, seamlessly integrating with its tropical surroundings through the use of neutral tones, airy spaces, and abundant natural light. The lower level includes a 220sqm gym, 60sqm yoga studio, 35sqm Pilates studio, meditation rooms, and a hydrotherapy area with vitality pools, saunas, and steam rooms.

The upper floor is dedicated to medical and holistic treatments, featuring consultation rooms, physiotherapy spaces, aesthetic treatment areas, and facilities for IV procedures, a hyperbaric chamber, Icepod, and hydro colonic therapies. Additionally, there is a Thai herbal dispensary offering personalized remedies.

Outdoor Activities and Cultural Immersion

The Active Zone outside includes tennis courts, a Muay Thai ring, a climbing wall, an outdoor fitness area with water sports, and a variety of cultural excursions. This holistic approach ensures that guests can enjoy physical activities and immerse themselves in the local culture.

Frederic Varnier, Vice President of Operations for Minor Hotels Southern Thailand, highlighted the significance of this new development:

“Phuket is rapidly emerging as one of the world's premier destinations for medical wellness, and the launch of Layan Life by Anantara takes this to another level with a personalized and immersive journey that not only focuses on physical wellness but also nurtures the mind and soul.”
