Baltimore's Francis Scott Key Bridge collapsed after a cargo ship collision, leaving two rescued, one critically injured. Search ongoing for others.
The Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore, Maryland, experienced a catastrophic collapse on Tuesday following a violent collision with a cargo ship, as reported by both American media and the BBC. The bridge, spanning 2.57 km, saw firefighters rushing to the scene as seven individuals and several vehicles plunged into the river below.
Baltimore's Fire Chief, James Wallace, reported the morning rescue of two people from the water. While one was unharmed, the other was hospitalized in critical condition. The search continues for others who fell into the river, with Wallace noting that information is being continuously updated and it's possible more individuals may be in the water following the collapse.
