An Orbital Assembly Corporation project, the Pioneer Station is set to be the world’s first space hotel to be opened in three years.

The concept marks a key point in the future of travel, with the hotel allowing guests to experience a unique trip and enjoy spectacular views of our solar system just outside the hotel rooms’ windows.

Orbital Assembly is actually planning to launch two such space hotels, with the Voyager Station with a capacity of 400 people opening in 2027.

Tim Alatorre, Orbital Assembly's chief operating officer, commented:

"The goal has always been to make it possible for large amounts of people to live, work and thrive in space. [...]It's going to get us the opportunity to have people start to experience space on a larger scale, faster.”

Pioneer Station, originally named the Von Braun Station, will have a capacity of 28 people and is expected to open its doors to visitors starting 2025.

Moreover, the hotels, resembling two orbiting rotating wheels, will also feature office spaces and research facilities available for rent.

The Pioneer Station’s architecture and interior design was inspired by Stanley Kubrick’s iconic movie "2001: A Space Odyssey”.

"I think the goal of Stanley Kubrick was to highlight the divide between technology and humanity and so, purposefully, he made the stations and the ships very sterile and clean and alien", Alatorre added.

Moreover, according to the company’s COO, space travel is set to become more accessible for everyone, not just billionaires.

"We're doing everything we can to make space accessible to everyone, not just the wealthy," he said.

However, the cost of the project, as well as the price for such out of this world trips have not yet been disclosed.
