LATAM Group Revamps Economy Class on Boeing 787 Dreamliner with High-Tech Features and Sustainability
LATAM Group has rolled out a significant redesign of its Economy cabin on the Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft, an upgrade that encompasses cutting-edge technology and eco-friendly materials, with a $15 million investment per plane.
Advanced Onboard Entertainment
One of the standout features of the new Economy class is the upgraded entertainment system. Passengers can now connect their personal headphones via Bluetooth to 12-inch high-definition touchscreens that offer an array of media choices. The available content boasts over 170 movies, 550 TV show episodes, and 100 music albums, along with exclusive content from popular streaming platforms such as HBO Max, Paramount+, and Disney+.
Adding to the immersive experience, the cabin features Panasonic’s Arc™, an interactive 3D map that provides detailed aerial views of landmarks and city streets. This tool enables passengers to virtually explore and learn about iconic locations worldwide while in flight.
Sustainable and Comfortable Seating
The new Economy cabin also introduces seats upholstered with 57% recycled leather, marking a significant step towards sustainability. This material choice not only reduces carbon emissions by up to 60% but also decreases water and land usage by up to 55%. LATAM's commitment to environmental consciousness is further emphasized as this is the second wide-body aircraft in their fleet featuring seats with recycled leather, a standard already set across their narrow-body aircraft.
Passengers flying Economy can enjoy enhanced comfort features such as adjustable headrests, a 6-inch recline, and upgraded entertainment systems with larger screens. For those seeking extra comfort, LATAM+ seats offer additional legroom, greater recline, dedicated overhead bin space, and priority boarding and disembarkation services.
Continued Investment and Innovation
This year, LATAM plans to roll out this new cabin design across four aircraft, culminating in a total investment of $60 million. This initiative positions LATAM at the forefront of regional aviation in terms of passenger experience and sustainability.
LATAM Group's CEO highlighted the dual focus of the redesign: “With these enhancements, we are not only elevating the passenger experience but also advancing our commitment to sustainability. We are proud to lead the way in South America by integrating advanced technology with environmentally conscious practices.”
As LATAM Group continues to innovate, the redesigned Economy cabin on the Boeing 787 Dreamliner sets a new standard for passenger comfort and environmental responsibility in the aviation industry.
