Lufthansa Breaks Ground on New Conference and Visitor Center at Frankfurt Airport

Airlines & Airports

As part of its office space consolidation, Lufthansa Group has started construction of a new conference and visitor center near the Lufthansa Aviation Center at Frankfurt Airport, set to open in 2026.

Lufthansa Group is ushering in a new era of office dynamics with the construction of a state-of-the-art conference and visitor center at Frankfurt Airport. This new development is a key component of Lufthansa’s strategic plan to consolidate office space by about 30%, or 60,000 square meters, by the end of the year. The initiative reflects changes in office use post-COVID-19, emphasizing flexibility and collaboration.

The new center, located adjacent to the Lufthansa Aviation Center (LAC), will serve as a hub for Lufthansa employees to engage in innovative forms of collaboration. It will also cater to customers, business partners, and aviation enthusiasts, showcasing Lufthansa’s rich history and future ambitions. Notable features of the center will include permanent exhibitions of the iconic Junkers Ju 52 and Lockheed L-1649 Super Star aircraft, visible through the building's expansive glass facade.

Designed by AS+P Albert Speer + Partner, the hangar-style structure will be a blend of modern design and functional space, spanning approximately 3,800 square meters. It will include large conference areas, event spaces capable of hosting over 1,000 guests, and a gallery featuring rare exhibits from Lufthansa’s storied past.

Sustainability is a cornerstone of the project, with plans for a green roof, a photovoltaic system, and geothermal heating. The center will also prepare for future innovations, including e-charging stations for electric vehicles.

Scheduled to open in spring 2026 to coincide with Lufthansa’s centenary, the conference and visitor center is poised to become a landmark facility at Frankfurt Airport, reflecting the airline’s commitment to innovation, sustainability, and community engagement.
