New Loyalty Currency Spenn Launches in the Nordics

Airlines & Airports

Spenn, the new loyalty currency from Norwegian and Strawberry, has officially launched in the Nordic market today. The goal of Spenn is to simplify earning and using points across various loyalty programs, starting with flights and hotel stays.

Expanding the Reach of Loyalty Programs

Both Norwegian and Strawberry's loyalty programs have now adopted Spenn. In the long term, the aim is to create a loyalty currency that can be used across a wide range of well-known brands and partners in the Nordics. Norwegian Reward members will now be able to use Spenn to pay in full or partially for flights and hotel stays and earn Spenn points on their travels. Over time, Spenn will also be accepted with many other partners.

Flexibility and New Opportunities

Geir Karlsen, CEO of Norwegian, commented on the launch: "This is a day we've been looking forward to for a long time. Since we announced our partnership with Strawberry, we have wanted to challenge the established loyalty market and create a loyalty currency that gives our members flexibility and opportunities beyond what is available today. We believe that Spenn will provide even more and better experiences for all our and Strawberry’s members."

Easy Access for Members

From today, members of both Norwegian and Strawberry (a combined total of seven million members) will be able to download the new Spenn app. With a few simple steps, members can link their existing Norwegian and Strawberry loyalty accounts and start earning and spending Spenn on future purchases. Norwegian Reward members will gradually gain access to Spenn throughout the launch day.

Norwegian Reward and Spenn Integration

Norwegian Reward members will now earn Spenn on their flights. Already accumulated CashPoints will still be retained and can be used with Norwegian and its partners as before. Members who qualify for Norwegian Reward benefits will continue to enjoy those benefits, but the "extra CashPoints" feature will be replaced with "extra Spenn" benefits. CashPoints can still be earned through various means, such as using the Bank Norwegian card or by shopping with Norwegian Reward partners.

Starting from launch, members can also partially pay with Spenn, just like with CashPoints. Spenn can be used on any available seats for Norwegian flights, with no minimum amount required.
