Royal Caribbean Announces Order for Seventh Oasis-Class Ship Set for 2028 Delivery

Cruise Lines & Cruise Ships

Royal Caribbean International has placed an order for a seventh Oasis-class ship to be delivered in 2028, highlighting the line's ongoing investment in expanding its innovative and luxurious fleet.

Royal Caribbean International has confirmed the order of its seventh Oasis-class ship, scheduled for delivery in 2028, marking another significant expansion of its renowned Oasis-class fleet. Michael Bayley, CEO of Royal Caribbean, expressed enthusiasm for the addition, dubbing it the "lucky seventh" vessel in this iconic series.

The announcement made on Thursday by the Royal Caribbean Group highlights a new agreement with the esteemed French shipbuilder, Chantiers de l'Atlantique. This order underscores Royal Caribbean's commitment to its Oasis-class ships, which have been a cornerstone of the line's offering since the debut of Oasis of the Seas in December 2009. The agreement is subject to securing financing, which the company anticipates finalizing later in the year.

The Oasis-class ships are among the largest and most innovative cruise ships in the world, offering an array of amenities, dining options, and entertainment. The decision to expand this class further, even as the company recently introduced the Icon class with the Icon of the Seas, the current titleholder for the world's largest cruise ship, signifies Royal Caribbean's confidence in the enduring appeal of the Oasis-class experience.

The upcoming Utopia of the Seas, set to join the fleet in July as the sixth Oasis-class ship, precedes this newly ordered vessel. Additionally, Royal Caribbean looks forward to the launch of the second Icon-class ship, Star of the Seas, expected in the summer of 2025.

This new order brings the total number of ships currently on order by the Royal Caribbean Group to eight, encompassing its various brands: Royal Caribbean International, Celebrity Cruises, and Silversea Cruises, as well as its partnership in operating TUI Cruises and Hapag-Lloyd Cruises.
