SAS Expands Domestic Network, Enhances Connectivity at Stockholm Arlanda

Airlines & Airports

Starting January 2, 2025, SAS will significantly expand its domestic flight offerings, providing improved accessibility across Sweden. The move consolidates all domestic travel at Stockholm Arlanda Airport, offering a streamlined travel experience for both domestic and international travelers.

A Strategic Partnership with BRA for Increased Domestic Traffic

SAS’ expansion comes as part of a strategic partnership with Braathens Regional Airways AB (BRA). Seven BRA aircraft will join SAS’ network from Arlanda, enhancing the number of destinations and the frequency of flights available to passengers.

New Routes and Seasonal Services

Two new routes will be introduced on January 27, 2025:

  • Arlanda to Kalmar
  • Arlanda to Halmstad

Additionally, SAS has launched new winter season routes:

  • Arlanda to Sälen
  • Ängelholm/Helsingborg to Sälen

These new connections further enhance SAS' network, making it easier for Swedish travelers to explore the country, while also providing convenient travel options for inbound passengers.

Anko van der Werff, President & CEO of SAS, shared his excitement:
“We are thrilled to begin the year by strengthening our domestic network in Sweden, all from Arlanda. Our new partnership with BRA will make it easier for both outbound and inbound travelers to explore more destinations across the country. We look forward to continuing to contribute to Sweden’s economic growth and connect it with the world.”

Collaboration with Swedavia to Enhance Passenger Experience

To ensure a smooth experience for the growing number of passengers, SAS and Swedavia are collaborating to enhance the passenger journey at Arlanda. This partnership will ensure seamless travel for passengers whose final destination is Arlanda, as well as those connecting to international flights.

Jonas Abrahamsson, President & CEO of Swedavia, commented:
“The consolidation of domestic travel at Sweden’s largest airport strengthens Swedish connectivity, offering passengers more convenient access to nearly 150 international destinations. We are continuously investing in Arlanda to improve the travel experience for our customers.”

New Lounge to Open in 2025

To further enhance the passenger experience, SAS is also working on establishing an additional lounge at Arlanda, located near the security checkpoint for easier access, regardless of where the flight departs. The new lounge is expected to open in the first quarter of 2025.

This expansion will bring greater convenience to travelers and strengthen Sweden's position as a key hub for both domestic and international air traffic.
