SeaWorld Abu Dhabi Will Welcome Guests To Yas Island Starting May
The grand opening of SeaWorld Abu Dhabi has been set - on May 23rd, guests may visit the Yas Island water park for the first time.
The new Yas Island attraction will be the first SeaWorld outside of North America. It joins other popular Yas Island destinations including the Warner Bros. World Abu Dhabi theme park, the Ferrari World Abu Dhabi theme park, Yas Waterworld Abu Dhabi, and Clymb Abu Dhabi.
What kind of attractions can visitors expect to see within SeaWorld Abu Dhabi?
As of yet undisclosed, the attraction will cover five stories and about 183,000 square metres, and will include ecosystems, rides, interactive displays, and immersive visitor experiences.
Around 58 million litres of water and 150 species, including sharks, manta rays, sea turtles, reptiles, amphibians, and invertebrates, are planned for the aquarium, making it the biggest multi-species aquascape in the area.
Penguins and puffins will be among the many bird species that call this area home. Zookeepers, vets, dietitians, and other animal experts will tend to the animals' needs.
The park's hub is named One Ocean, and it connects six different marine settings with stories that highlight the interconnectedness of life on land and water. A 360-degree media experience will also be available in this area.
In July, Abu Dhabi sustainable energy provider Masdar announced that rooftop solar photovoltaic panels with a combined capacity of 8.2 megawatts will be used to power the building.
Real estate mogul and project backer Mohamed Khalifa Al Mubarak commented about the park’s debut:
“We are delighted to announce the opening of SeaWorld Abu Dhabi this May, and proud of our partnership with SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment to bring the region’s next-generation marine life theme park to Abu Dhabi and to Yas Island.
“As part of our commitment to the Year of Sustainability, the marine life park will embed Sheikh Zayed’s legacy and profound respect for nature and all its beauty, as well as play a key role in promoting environmental awareness and protecting marine life in Abu Dhabi, the UAE and the wider region.
“Through its innovative programmes and its state-of-the-art facilities, SeaWorld Abu Dhabi aims to inspire the next generation of conservationists and marine life scientists while fostering a deeper appreciation for the natural world. SeaWorld Abu Dhabi’s opening will mark an exciting new chapter in Yas Island and Abu Dhabi’s ongoing efforts to promote tourism, showcase the emirate’s truly unique offerings and position it as a top global destination.”
