Smart headphone to destroy language barriers during holidays
The smart headphones invented by American startup Waverly Labs have the ability to translate real-time conversations between users, without requiring internet connection. At the beginning, the device will be able to translate conversations in English, Spanish, French and Italian. In the future the device will also be available for other languages such as Hindi, Arabic and Slavic languages, as stated by the representatives Waverly Labs.
The headset developed by Waverly Labs is called the Pilot and could eliminate language barriers given that they have the ability to translate real-time conversations between those involved. "Pilot" resembles ordinary wireless headphones, but the system works without an Internet connection, the words being translated through software that is provided by the gadget, requiring an app available on smartphones.
The helmets are helpful only when one speaks to someone who has access to such a system. Therefore the package contains two headsets, one for each party. The idea of the Pilot system started from the love story between a beautiful French young lady and the Waverly Labs founder, Andrew Ochoa, who wanted to communicate better. Their story can also be seen in the video presentation of the smart headphones.
The gadget’s launch is scheduled for the autumn in this year at an estimated price of between 249 and 299 dollars. For those who will book their headphones, the starting price will be 129 dollars, according to forbes.com.
