Texas Will Serve as MSC Cruises' Fourth U.S. Home-port

Establishing a new home-port in Galveston is a thrilling prospect since it will be a significant milestone in the company's continued growth throughout North America.

MSC Cruises is adding a new home-port in Texas, the company's fourth in the USA.

MSC claims that it and the Port of Galveston have signed a non-binding protocol of agreement outlining the terms of a prospective deal to build a terminal. To be more specific, piers 16–18 would be the site of the proposed new port.

Rubén A. Rodríguez, the president of MSC Cruises USA, revealed:

“The prospect of developing a new home-port in Galveston is exciting because it represents a big step in our ongoing North American expansion.

“Bringing our modern, glamorous ships to Texas would provide even more access and opportunities for guests and travel advisors to experience the future of cruising with MSC Cruises and our unique European style.

“We look forward to productive discussions with the Galveston Wharves as we chart MSC’s future in the US market.”

Nevertheless, there still is some confusion over which ships will be permanently stationed at the new port or when construction would begin.

In addition to its existing home-ports in Miami and Port Canaveral, Florida, the firm is considering establishing a cruise terminal in Texas. Starting in the spring of 2023, MSC will provide year-round voyages from New York City's Brooklyn Cruise Terminal to the Caribbean, Bermuda, New England, and Canada on board the MSC Meraviglia.

The Swiss firm also operates out of various additional international and European departure points.

MSC has also released many new vessels this year, such as the MSC World Europa, which has the first at-sea brewery to use seawater in the production of beer in addition to 33 restaurants, bars, and clubs. With the introduction of the MSC Seascape, the cruise company also introduced a new Robotron experience that suspends passengers more than 100 feet over the water.

It's not only MSC that wants to settle down in Texas. With the opening of its brand new zero emission cruise port in Galveston last month, Royal Caribbean International has joined the ranks of environmentally conscious cruise lines. The Allure of the Seas, which can carry over 5,400 passengers, will be docked there.
