The regional capacity of Singapore Airlines will be expanded in 2023

Starting next year, Singapore Airlines plans to boost its capacity across Asia and Australia owing to the high demand to travel to these locations.

JoAnn Tan, the company’s senior vice president of marketing planning, explained:

“Looking ahead to 2023, we see stronger demand for flights to destinations across south-east Asia, parts of east Asia and Australia. As we restore our network to these regions closer to pre-pandemic levels, our customers have even more flight options.”

The airline announced that it would restart flights between Singapore and Busan beginning on June 2, 2023. Additionally, the air carrier stated that it would expand Airbus A380 services to Australia beginning in May 2023. These increased services would include resuming a daily A380 service to Melbourne for the first time since 2018, as well as the launch of a new second daily A380 flight to Sydney.

However, beginning on March 28, 2023, Singapore Airlines plans to cut the number of times it flies between Singapore and Manchester and Houston from four times per week to only three times per week on this route. On the other hand, from April 2, 2023, the airline will also begin operating an additional service between Singapore and Manchester routes with the hep of an A350-900 long-haul aircraft.

By March 2024, Singapore Airlines anticipates reaching or exceeding the number of flights it operated pre-Covid. The routes include Bangkok, Seoul, Kuala Lumpur, Taiwan, and Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam. In addition, Singapore Airlines plans to increase flight frequencies across Japan, to Fukuoka, Nagoya, and Osaka.
