Tourism in Saint Lucia registers strong month

Saint Lucia officials reported that the island state has registered the strongest month for international tourism since the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic.

March has been the best month for tourism in the island, with 32.110 tourist arrivals, a peak of visitors since Saint Lucia’s reopening in June 2020.

Around 56.2 percent of the total visitor numbers in the first quarter of the year came from the United States, followed by the United Kingdom with 30.3 percent.

“The numbers are really encouraging and a testament to the people who work tirelessly in the tourism industry in Saint Lucia. Our aim is to ensure that the growth trajectory is sustainable and benefits our people through employment and income generation as well as providing the best experience for our visitors”, declared the island’s Tourism Minister Dr. Ernest Hilaire.

The growing arrival rates can be explained if considering that Saint Lucia has also eased entry protocols for tourists, by removing Covid-19 testing regulations for fully vaccinated travellers.

Even more visitors are expected in the coming months.

Located 24 miles south of Martinique and 21 miles north-east of Saint Vincent, the island is the second largest of the Windward group in the Lesser Antilles.
