Two New Holiday Inn Properties To Open In Thailand

News

During this year, the formerly separate hotels Surin Phuket Beach Resort and Karon Phuket Beach Resort will be renovated and relaunched as the Holiday Inn Resort Phuket Surin Beach and the Holiday Inn Resort Phuket Karon Beach, respectively.

The two new resorts will join the recently built Holiday Inn Resort Krabi Ao Nang Beach and the Holiday Inn Resort Samui Bophut Beach, bringing the total number of Holiday Inn locations across Thailand to 17.

Holiday Inn Resort Phuket Surin Beach features 256 rooms and is positioned 25 minutes from Phuket International Airport, 20 minutes from Patong Center, and 150 metres from Surin Beach. The hotel's primary features will be the availability of family rooms and suites, as well as a variety of family-friendly amenities including a movie theatre, ice cream parlour, and toy shop. Guests may take use of the hotel's three eateries, two bars, fitness centre, spa, and children's activity centre.

The 224-room Holiday Inn Resort Phuket Karon Beach is located about 100 metres from Karon Beach and 60 minutes by car from Phuket International Airport. Patong Center can be reached in 20 minutes by car. Surfers flock to the region because of its proximity to prominent destinations like Big Buddha and Karon Night Market. Apart from three swimming pools, five eateries, bars, a health club, a massage, and the kids' club Siam Adventure Club, accommodations include family suites and suites with plunge pools.

According to Saowarin Chanprakaisi, IHG's Head of Development for South East Asia and Korea, Destination Group is the third biggest franchise operator in Asia thanks to its in-house team of highly experienced professionals who purchase, remodel, and reposition outstanding hotel properties. The fact that this is a first-of-its-kind agreement is a testament to the confidence that the franchisees and business partners have in the IHG brands and business strategy.

“The two signings continue the Holiday Inn brand growth in Thailand, and expands our strong presence in Phuket. They are a great complement to the six other opened hotels in Phuket, across the InterContinental, Hotel Indigo, Holiday Inn Resort, Holiday Inn Express, and Crowne Plaza brands, enabling greater synergies, operational efficiency and talent management across our portfolio”, Chanprakaisi commented.

In the words of Gary Murray, founder and chief executive officer of Destination Group, Surin and Karon are among of the top beach locations for leisure travellers, and appeal tremendously to big groups of travellers.

“We are aligned with IHG in our vision to offer world class products and experiences and want all of our guests to enjoy a memorable holiday together. We believe that Holiday Inn’s proposition as one of the most recognised brands in the world offering a consistent, affordable and approachable service experience is a good fit for these resorts and will benefit from the strength and scale of IHG’s global systems, technology and loyalty programme. We look forward to taking the properties to even greater heights with IHG”, Murray added.

Before the coronavirus crisis, Phuket welcomed 10 million tourists a year, while experts expect that number to remain steady as the hospitality industry resumes its activity.
