Vietnam's International Travel Mart Advocates For Sustainable Travel

News

Over 60,000 people are anticipated to attend the fair this year, as well as representatives from over 3,000 tourist enterprises looking to network with local and international partners at the 450 pavilions representing 51 provinces and towns throughout the country, as well as 15 foreign nations and regions.

Tourism has been a major driver of growth in economies across the globe, not just in Vietnam.

According to Nguyen Van Hung, the Minister of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, the sector is a "smokeless industry" that has contributed to the economic growth of the nation. After opening its doors to tourists again on March 15, 2022, the nation saw an increase of roughly 3.7 million visitors last year. It is encouraging to see that the tourist sector has showed indications of recovery in the first quarter of 2022, with arrivals exceeding 60% of pre-pandemic levels, a surge of over 30 times from the same period in 2021. While rapid expansion is desirable, efforts must be made to protect existing cultural sites, natural areas, and species variety. This, according to Ramla Khalidi, UNDP Vietnam's Resident Representative and a travel industry expert, will be the sector's biggest problem.

This year, Vietnam hopes to attract 8 million international visitors and generate income of around US$27 billion, or 90.3% of levels seen before the pandemic. In 2025, the tourism industry is expected to recover to its pre-pandemic levels, and 35 million international tourists are targeted for the year 2030. The tourism industry is predicted to expand by 13–15 percent annually.

The Vietnam International Travel Mart (VITM) is an expo showcasing Vietnamese businesses in the travel and tourism industry that will take place in Hanoi from April 13-16, 2023 at the International Centre of Exhibition (ICE). The next edition of the mart is scheduled to take place in the month of April 2024.
