Weeva Joins Forces with the Sustainable Hospitality Alliance
The Sustainable Hospitality Alliance extends a warm welcome to Weeva, the sustainability management platform, as it joins as an affiliate member.
This partnership aims to foster collaboration in enhancing industry resilience and promoting data-driven sustainability initiatives.
Engineered by experts in sustainable tourism, Weeva champions modest, environmentally responsible actions, underpinned by consistent data management practices. These measures are designed to enhance efficiency and, ultimately, the profitability of businesses within the sector.
The Alliance boasts a vast presence in the hospitality arena, representing over 50,000 properties and a staggering 7 million rooms worldwide. The addition of Weeva's expertise is a cause for celebration, as it brings valuable insights to tackle the myriad challenges that the hospitality industry faces. The industry's focus on "Net Positive Hospitality," a philosophy and approach that seeks to harness the hospitality sector's potential for global betterment, resonates with both parties.
In alignment with this shared vision, both the Alliance and Weeva are actively engaged in the tourism and hospitality sectors, where they are addressing issues related to the quantification of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and promoting transparent, credible reporting.
In its capacity as an Affiliate Member, Weeva possesses the privilege to shape and drive sustainable progress. This includes participation in the Alliance's Senior Advisory Council and access to specialized solutions and resources tailored to the industry, all crafted collaboratively by industry experts.
Glenn Mandziuk, CEO of Sustainable Hospitality Alliance, expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration, stating:
“We are delighted to welcome Weeva as an Affiliate Member and look forward to collaborating and working towards our shared vision to improve the industry’s reporting and measuring standards. Weeva’s focus on using sustainability to create more efficient and resilient businesses reflects the Alliance’s ambitions to put the industry on a sustainable pathway to Net Positive Hospitality. Collaboration with our affiliate members is invaluable as we implement our bold 5-year strategy to help the industry give back more than it takes.”
Julie Cheetham, Managing Director and Co-Founder of Weeva, offered insights into the motivation behind their sustainability efforts, saying:
“The pandemic brought home just how vulnerable the tourism and hospitality sectors were; and how connected they are to the natural world. Practically overnight, we went from being one of the world’s biggest employers to the brink of collapse. This sparked a fire in myself and Lindsey Walter; we wanted to build a tool to mainstream and democratise sustainable operations and enable even the most ‘green-averse’ properties to improve their impact. It’s our mission to ditch the jargon, greenwashing and marketing ploys to make sustainability work for profit, people, and the planet.”
