The Tallest Skyscraper in the World to Be Built in Dubai

The Emaar Group, the largest real estate developer in the United Arab Emirates, announced on Sunday in Dubai its plans to build a new skyscraper that will surpass Burj Khalifa record, the tallest building in the world with 828 meters, AFP informs


Designed by the renowned architect Santiago Calatrava Valls, the new skyscraper called "The Tower" will own an observation platform and 18-20 floors that will accommodate restaurants and hotel rooms. The tower will form a minaret and will be fixed to the ground by of cables.


The Emaar Properties Chairman, Mohamed Alabbar, said that the new skyscraper, whose cost is estimated at around one billion dollars, will be slightly higher than the Burj Khalifa building. Alabbar also mentioned that the new building will be ready before the World Expo 2020 and the exact height will not be disclosed before the project’s completion.


In the race of developing the biggest building in the world, there should also be mentioned Kingdom Holding Company owned by the Saudi billionaire Walid bin Talal, who started in Jeddah, a port city in Saudi Arabia, the construction of a tower with a height of over one kilometer. The cost of construction is estimated at over two billion dollars (1.75 billion euros).
