American Airlines to Serve 100 Destinations in Latin America
American Airlines will reach a milestone of 100 destinations across Mexico, the Caribbean, and Latin America with the launch of two new routes from its Miami hub: Maracaibo, Venezuela, and Cap-Haitien, Haiti.
The Maracaibo service begins July 14, operating daily on Embraer 175 aircraft and becoming the only nonstop US service to the city. It comes weeks after American became the first airline to resume flights between the United States and Venezuela, adding to its existing twice-daily Miami–Caracas service.
The Cap-Haitien route launches November 1, operated daily on Boeing 737 aircraft, marking the first announced resumption of US service to Haiti by any American carrier. Haiti is described as the largest Caribbean country by demand currently unserved by a US airline, with South Florida home to the largest Haitian-American population in the country and additional benefits expected for travelers connecting from New York City and Orlando.
"American connects the U.S. with Mexico, the Caribbean and Latin America better than any other airline," said Chief Commercial Officer Nat Pieper. "We are committed to serving the needs of travelers by offering the most flights to the most destinations in the region of any U.S. carrier."
With the addition of these two destinations, American's winter network across the region will be nearly 50 percent larger than its nearest US competitor, including exclusive nonstop access to destinations such as Anguilla, Bimini in the Bahamas, Ocho Rios in Jamaica, South Caicos in the Turks and Caicos, and Montevideo, Uruguay.
The airline is also increasing frequencies on several Miami routes this winter, including two daily flights to Rio de Janeiro, up to eight daily flights to San Juan, up to four daily flights to St. Thomas, and seasonal services to Exuma and St. Kitts running from December 17, 2026 to April 5, 2027. Further investment in Miami is planned, including a new Flagship lounge and a reimagined Concourse D.
