Americans Increasingly Value Entertainment

Entertainment

This year, a record number of Americans plan to attend live performances and events.

According to recent market research conducted by Allianz Partners USA, more and more Americans are placing a premium on attending live shows and ticketed events such as athletic games, concerts, and plays. According to the 15th Annual Vacation Confidence Index poll conducted by the firm, 66.7% of Americans are planning to attend at least one ticketed event.

New data from the industry's top travel insurance provider shows that 63% of Americans surveyed have plans to attend at least one ticketed event in 2023, up 3% from 2018 and 8% from 2020, demonstrating a continued interest on the part of the American public in going to live activities. Twenty percent (20%) of those polled said they want to attend at least three such events in person this year, which is on par with 2021 (3%) but an increase from (20).

Five-and-a-half percent of respondents, which is a two percent increase from 2022, said they intend to attend a live concert, festival, or performing arts event that required a ticket. Meanwhile, 46% of respondents (the same percentage as last year but an increase of 3% from 2021) plan to attend athletic events to root for the team they prefer.

The percentage of American people aged 18 to 34 who intend to purchase tickets for at least one live entertainment event in 2023 is 78 percent, up 2 percentage points from 2021. The majority of respondents (67%) were between the ages of 35 and 54, whereas respondents (55+) were almost equally divided as to whether or not they were interested in attending live events. Forty-eight percent of respondents in this age range said they intended to attend a live event in 2023, up three percentage points from the previous year.

Event Ticket Protector is a product offered by Allianz Partners that may repay insured clients for up to one hundred percent of the cost of their tickets, up to a maximum of $10,000, in the event that they are unable to attend their event as a result of a covered scenario, such as an unforeseen sickness or the loss of their employment. The Event Ticket Protector is a service that many of the best ticket sellers provide. Buyers of protection plans also have access to a crisis hotline staffed around the clock.
