Australia end all Covid-19 entry regulations for tourists

News

Australia has removed all Covid-19 entry rules in order for travellers to easily access the country that used to have one of the strictest border regulations set on a global scale during the lest two years of pandemic.

Starting last Wednesday, officials have finally ended all remaining rules, including vaccination proof and a negative Covid test upon entry. According to the Department of Home Affairs, travellers will also no longer be required to fill the Digital Passenger Declaration or Maritime Travel Declaration. Moreover, visa holders who are unvaccinated are also allowed to enter the continent restrictions free.

The Australian Border Force tweeted:

"COVID-19 border restrictions have changed. Travellers don't need to complete a Digital Passenger Declaration or Maritime Travel Declaration and all visa holders can travel to Australia without a travel exemption."

However, Australian states and companies are free to impose their own rules. Face masks will continue to be mandatory while onboard of all flights to Australia, as well as several airlines like Virgin Australia and Qantas will require passengers their vaccination proof in order to travel internationally.

Australia had partially opened its borders starting February 2022, with all entry requirements and restrictions still on (vaccine, proof of a negative RT PCR testing and so on). After that, starting April, some of the rules were removed, but tourists were still required their full vaccination certificate to access country borders.

With the latest decision, Australia joins other nations that completely removed Covid-19 entry regulations: the US, Italy, the United Kingdom, Sweden, Iceland, Ireland, Croatia, Aruba and more.
