Politicians, Public Servants and Business Challenged to Slash Global Roaming Rates on Mobile Phones
A new Australian business, Anaconda Travel Sim, is offering globe-trotting politicians, public servants and corporate travellers the opportunity to slash global roaming charges on their mobile phones while overseas, using a pre-paid travel sim card with roaming rates a fraction of those from major telcos and up to 20 per cent cheaper than competitor sim cards.

The offer follows the case of an Australian mining company that previously paid more than $400,000 a year on global roaming charges for its travelling executives but, after switching this year to Anaconda Travel Sim, now projects it will spend just $50,000 a year on global roaming for their employees’ phones – an 87 per cent saving.
“Politicians, public servants and business travellers can drastically cut mobile phone bills for their departments and companies by inserting an Anaconda Travel Sim card in their phone when they head overseas and forwarding calls to the new card as if nothing was different,” said Anaconda Travel Sim Director Bruce Hansen.
“Many Governments departments and large companies accept high phone bills for overseas trips as part and parcel of business travel but it doesn’t have to be the case,” Mr Hansen said. “And corporate travellers rightly see it as a hassle to find local sim cards or free Wi-Fi points when they arrive at their destination but inserting an Anaconda Travel Sim card into their phone before they go for all their calls and data roaming while away is as convenient and easy as checking into a flight.
“With call rates as low as 45 cents per minute from the US to Australia and data roaming charges as low as 38 cents per MB in some countries, the pay-as-you-go Anaconda Travel Sim can be used for low-cost global roaming in more than 200 countries and territories and companies can automatically top up the Sim card through a credit card or nominate a staff member to top up their employees’ cards as needed from the Anaconda website.
“The Australian mining company that is now using the Anaconda Travel Sim will now pay just one eighth of the global roaming charges it once paid and in this frugal, cost-cutting climate, that’s a very substantial saving to the bottom line for any business.”
Mr Hansen said Anaconda Travel Sim was launched this year to help business and leisure travellers avoid post-trip bill shock, saving them from huge roaming costs that can amount to thousands of dollars.
“Anaconda Travel Sim offers business travellers and holidaymakers a reliable and very affordable way to stay connected while overseas,” he said. “I tested our Anaconda Travel Sim overseas on a business trip myself this year and after 488 calls, 289 visits to the internet and 290 text messages over a two-month period, the mobile phone bill came to $1455 using our Anaconda card. Had I roamed with a major telco’s card, the cost would have been 13 times that.
The Anaconda Travel Sim is available via www.anacondamobile.com from $50, including $40 worth of airtime and free delivery. Mr Hansen said a growing number of Australian travel retailers were selling the Sim card to their corporate and leisure customers, with 10 per cent commission, as an extension of their service.
