Blue Air to launch new flights in 2017

News

Blue Air will launch next year a new air base in Liverpool John Lennon Airport, which is the eighth European base of the Romanian company, as part of a strategy to expand its flights network.

For Liverpool Airport, Blue Air will allocate next summer, a Boeing 737-800 with 189 seats, which will operate daily flights to Rome Fiumicino, four times a week to Milan Bergamo and Hamburg, and three times a week to Alicante. For the new base, the company will employ 35 people responsible for the recruitment and training, pilots, flight engineers and so on.

Blue Air also says it is “considering a special Liverpool focus for the livery of the aircraft to be based at LJLA, as they look to become Liverpool’s airline, and will discuss this with the Airport in the coming weeks in time for the start of their new services next year”. Blue Air’s CEO, Gheorghe Racaru declared that: “Today is a historic moment for both Blue Air and the Liverpool City Region as we announce our eighth base at the airport, adding four routes. In fact, we are going to put three brand new destinations on Liverpool’s route map, by flying directly to the currently unserved cities of Rome, Milan and Hamburg, which are likely to be popular with customers travelling for both business and leisure. Additionally, we will offer the region’s passengers an increased choice with our Alicante service.”

Blue Air started its activity in Liverpool airport in December 2004 with three weekly flights to Bucharest. In March 2015, the carrier launched flights to and from Cluj Napoca, the second largest city in Romania. In the last two years, around 120,000 passengers flew to and from Liverpool with Blue Air.
