During National Apprenticeship Week, approximately 40 British Airways apprentices orchestrated the successful launch of flight BA43 from Heathrow to Cape Town, serving over 300 customers. This event marked an unprecedented achievement for the airline as apprentices took charge of various operational roles including check-in, boarding, dispatch, cabin crew, baggage handling, and engineering. Post-pandemic, British Airways has seen a surge in apprenticeship interest, receiving 4,500 applications in 2023, showcasing the program's popularity and the apprentices' significant contributions to the airline's operations.

As British Airways celebrated this milestone, the airline highlighted the diverse opportunities within its apprenticeship scheme, now in its 13th year, which has grown from offering 30 positions in 2011 to 290 today.
