Cathay Pacific launches new long-haul route in 2016

A new four-times-a-week service between London’s Gatwick Airport and Hong Kong will be operated by Cathay Pacific Airways starting September 2nd, 2016


The Chinese airline currently operates five-times-daily services from Heathrow Airport to Hong Kong, for a total of 39 flights a week connecting London and China. Also, Cathay Pacific offers its UK passengers a four-times-weekly service between Manchester and Hong Kong.


Awaiting for the government approval, Cathay's new service will be the only non-stop one between Gatwick Airport and Hong Kong.


Gatwick’s South Terminal will host the new flights departures, operated with by the company's brand new Airbus A350-900 aircraft featuring three passenger seat classes.


The flight between Gatwick and Hong Kong will offer customers in-flight entertainment systems in all classes and premium cabin crew services for the best in-flight long-haul experience.


Neil Glenn, Europe's general manager at Cathay Pacific commented:


“Cathay Pacific has been flying between London and Hong Kong for 35 years and our commitment to the UK market remains strong.


“We are delighted to launch a non-stop service from Gatwick to Hong Kong, using our new state-of-the-art A350 aircraft, which will help meet increasing demand for both business and leisure travel between the Asia Pacific region and the UK.


“These additional flights between London and Hong Kong will provide our passengers with greater choice and flexibility and, at the same time, continue to boost Hong Kong’s standing as an international aviation hub.”
