Croatia to develop new destination concept
The private island of Obonjan off the coast of Croatia is currently being reinvented and transformed into a wellbeing oasis
The island is located 6 km off the coastal town of Šibenik, near the Adriatic Sea and is covered with 136 acres of pine and olive plantations. Also known as ‘the island of youth’, Obonjan island is now being transformed to welcome guests with a perfect blend between art, culture, music, food, entertainment and relaxation.
The new environmental project came alive due to a 45-year lease joint venture between Sound Channel, Gratiosus, CMT, and Otok, in a multi-cultural business partnership.
“Obonjan is a beautiful island and the perfect canvas for us to create something very different that combines all the things we love: from live music and DJs, to great food and relaxation, to inspiring talks and workshops. We want to create an open environment that gives guests the opportunity to do as little or as much as they want, and ultimately leave feeling enriched,” Dan Blackledge from Sound Channel commented.
Accommodation here will be designed to cover all preferences, from canvas tents to safari-style wooden luxurious lodges. With a full capacity of 800 guests, suitable for all pockets, the island will as well provide wellbeing services through an extensive health and healing programme. Island trips and workshops on various themes will also be organized here by the local teams, to invigorate and entertain tourists.
