Disney Faces Litigation Related To A Water Slide Wedgie

Entertainment

The Typhoon Lagoon water park at the Walt Disney World Resort in Lake Buena Vista, Florida is the subject of a lawsuit for reportedly causing "serious" injury.

A guest had suffered an "injurious wedgie" while riding one of the park's water slides.

Emma and Edward McGuinness and their family were involved in an accident on the Humunga Kowabunga water slide on October 14, 2019.

The lawsuit is claiming that Disney was aware of, or should have been aware of, the potential for painful "wedgies," especially for women.

The complaint argues that when a rider reaches the bottom of The Slide and travels into the water basin meant to restrict further passage, the power of the water may shove loose clothing, an incident known as a "wedgie." The possibility is more prevalent and significant for women than men because of their anatomy.

Emma and Edward McGuinness have requested a jury trial and are seeking compensatory damages and taxable expenses in their lawsuit. The amount of money the plaintiffs want to be compensated for the negligence count is $50,000, exclusive of interest and fees.

The Walt Disney World Resort has been contacted for comment but had not issued a statement on the matter so far.
